we have observed 42 cases of iutussusception in the adult during 1961 to 1966.
in this period, intussusception in the children occured in 84 cases. Incidence among both sex was equal. Peak incidence was observed from 3 rd to 4 th decade.
Etiological lesions were found only in 2 cases (4%) which were considered to be contradictory- to foreign reports.
The cardinal symptoms and signs were lower abdominal pain and tenderness appearing in 92% of cases, nausea and vomiting in 33%, abdominal mass in, 12% bloody and mucus stool iu, 8%, and abdomival distention in 7%, Anatomical types of intussusception were ileo-cecal and ileo-ceco-colic; 42% in each, Colo-colic; 8%, ilex-ileal; 5%. and jejuno-jejunal; 3%
Operative interventions were carried out in all 42 cases in which 10 cases were treated by manual reduction, 25 cases by manual reduction and cecopexy and resections on 7 cases.
There were no cmplicattions and mertahties.
